A Notice, And A Promise

Today, We’re talking about resources. As a non-profit foundation, the Hummingbird Project team strives to provide as much useful information and tools as we possibly can. The resources on our website have been brought to you by countless hours of extensive research in finding sources that are legitimate and trustworthy in times when it matters the most.

This all began when the Hummingbird Project Team willed it upon ourselves to do some investigating to see how reliable these online resources truly were. After extensive research we came to realize that without thousands of dollars to be readily spent, many will find themselves at a dead end. The average 30 day rehab stay will cost anywhere from 20,000 to 40,000 dollars; and unfortunately for many, this is simply not a reliable outcome for long term solutions.

Furthermore, without the source of income the only options are most often hotline calls and general counseling. While this is important in immediate circumstances, this is not always effective in the long run. People need guidance and assistance toward long term wellness. As human beings, how are we to dismay the desperate help being called from another? We can conclude that in times of crisis there is a much greater need for available solutions that are long term and sustainable for one’s mental and physical health. There are people who are in permissible need for resources that support, uplift and encourage one’s self to be at their greatest, highest being without worrying about what the cost will be to get there.

Naloxone is an FDA approved medication designed to rapidly reduce or reverse the symptoms of an opioid related overdose. Since 2023, data and analytics have shown opioid related deaths are ranked the leading cause of death for people ages 18-45. A review of  medical services data from Arizona found that when given a dose of naloxone, 93% of people survived their overdose. If every person had this medication on hand, just imagine the reduction of deaths we will see in the day to day statistics.

Sources showed us that without insurance a single dose of this medication can cost anywhere from $80-120 dollars; and unable to receive more than twelve doses per year pending the laws of certain states. If the objective in mind was to lower the amount of opioid related overdoses, this would simply not be the only preventative to the crisis at hand. Nonetheless, the truth lies with the fact that the more naloxone that becomes freely available to the public, the sooner the amount of opioid related deaths will see an analytical decrease. In the state of Arizona, a standing order was issued that authorizes any Arizona-licensed pharmacist to dispense naloxone to any person in need. This alternative method is often free or little to no cost, and an over the counter distribution, making the possibility of life saving circumstances inescapable.

It is the Hummingbird Project’s mission to provide the resources necessary for fentanyl and overdose prevention. In the state of Arizona, more than five people die everyday  from  an opioid related overdose. We vow to change these social statistics and bring forth a revolutionary change in the overdose crisis. We will continue to do the necessary work in order to provide you with the most beneficial options in the most crucial times.

With Love,

The Hummingbird Team ❤️
